Whether this is your first or 100th step on your therapeutic journey, I welcome you and commend you on taking this courageous step. Finding a therapist can be challenging and I believe that finding a good fit is an imperative part this journey. I place great value on the therapeutic relationship and will strive to earn your trust while fostering a relaxed, empathetic and supportive environment. My goal is to create a place of safety for clients that allows them to objectively look at and identify their defenses and to understand the underlying emotions

Psychotherapy provides a useful framework for you to connect with your deepest wisdom. My hope for you, is an emergance of a vital force that facilitates loving relationships with yourself and others. Through your continued emotional exploration you will find a renewed sense of calm and connectedness with your body. Therapy can heighten your sense of clarity, strength and confidence. We will seek to awaken your creativity, and connect with your innate intuition and self-knowledge. Together, we strive for a transformation that is longer lasting than the original issues that brought you here.

My work with individuals is heavily influenced by the theory of AEDP, or Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy. From this framework, I seek to create a secure space where my clients can feel safe and share all parts of themselves, knowing I will be there with them to help “undo their aloneness” in the face of trauma, loss and painful emotions. AEDP holds that we are all wired for healing and have an innate capacity for recovery and resiliency. For more information on AEDP, check out my FAQ’s page.

You don’t have to face this alone anymore. In therapy, I create a safe environment so that you can access your inner resources and feel more whole and alive. I accompany my clients as a guide, a witness, a collaboration “trusted other” to help them connect with themselves and with others in new ways by privileging the positive and increasing their capacity to recognize their unique strengths and adaptive qualities. We all need defenses to survive in life. If you are someone who grew up in an environment that wasn’t safe or emotionally nurturing, chances are you have some rigid defenses and defensive patterns. When defenses that were once needed to protect us become hard wired habits or parts defensive parts of ourselves. What once helped us to survive can become a barrier to love and the full range of feelings that must be available to lead a full and rich life.

Even if you’re seeking support to help you change behaviors that present as destructive, or are no longer serving you, I will help you understand the origin of these behaviors and how at one point in your life, they were created as a sophisticated means of coping with your surroundings at that time. My approach is always free of judgement and non-pathologizing. Instead, with a stance of curiosity and compassion, we can gain insight that will empower you to choose a different way of being and interacting with the world that will leave you more confident and in control. I appreciate and understand that beginning therapy can be a hopeful and intimidating experience, so I welcome your courage and strength for taking the first step, and invite you to reach out to me for a free phone consultation.
